Skilled workers from the province are getting better job opportunities abroad as gleaned from recent job fairs sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), here.
Recruitment agencies frequent the province seeking for skilled overseas workers who are in-demand in various countries. They seek for trained workers for hotels, groceries, offices, schools and hospitals, other than the usual offer for domestic helpers and care givers.
Although the hiring for domestic helpers and care givers are still on top, deployment of skilled workers from the province is remarkably going-up. To date, there are more than 100 skilled OF Ws from the province now deployed in various countries.
In the province, deployment of skilled OFWs start to rise because of programs and trainings provided by government agencies, in coordination with local government units (LGUs).
During trainings, trainors are being provided by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and Department of Science and Technology, while materials and facilities and other incidental expense are shouldered by the LGUs.
Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment recently launched (DOLE) “Project Job Fit that will put together a robustly flexible road map that would guide students and new entrants to the labor force in identifying college and technical-vocational courses that they may pursue to land in available industry jobs or to engage in self-employment undertakings required by the economy after graduation.
