A newly hired overseas Filipino worker in Dubai allegedly ran off with his company’s money amounting to about P2.5 million.
The alleged suspect was identified as Jem Abanto Miranda, 31, of Manila.
Fellow OFW Rhoda Capio was the one who recommended Miranda to the company a few months ago.
Part of Miranda’s work was to encash checks to pay for the company’s various transactions.
However, Miranda suddenly disappeared when he encashed more than 200,000 dirhams or about P2.5 million.
Capio felt bad because she was the one who authorized the transaction.
They later learned that Miranda returned to the Philippines with the company’s money.
Tuwang-tuwa daw sa akin yung mother niya,” she said. Report from Dindo Amparo, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau Chief, Dubai
