A Filipino schoolteacher who used to work at an international school in Saudi Arabia accused the father of one of her students — a fellow Filipino — of having raping her in Riyadh.

Philippine embassy officials quoted the schoolteacher as saying the suspect is working at a government hospital in Riyadh.

“(The suspect) would visit me, asking about his child’s academic performance, until he began disclosing information about his personal life, including the fact that he had been separated from his wife,” the victim said in an interview with Saudi-based news site Arab News.

She said she had been working at the school since July 2009, but resigned two weeks ago and returned to the Philippines.

The woman narrated that on her birthday last October, the man insisted on giving her a gift despite her protests.

“He insisted, saying that it was without malice and a way to show gratitude for my being a good listener,” she said.

She said he then asked her to provide his son private lessons at their home in Riyadh’s Mather district.

While nothing untoward occurred that first time, she said the second time became more of a “date” with the father.

She said that when she arrived at the house, the boy was nowhere to be seen.

“He prepared a snack. Then after that, he took pictures of me. Then he sat down beside me on the sofa and put his arms around my neck. I fought back and he struck me on my left ear. I felt dizzy and he asked me to drink water. He might have put a sleeping tablet in the glass because after that I passed out. During that time, he poured cold water on me,” she said.

She said she awoke wet and naked.

The man reportedly told her not to tell anyone what had happened and that he would find her two daughters the next time he was in the Philippines and rape them if she spoke to anyone about what happened.

He then allegedly took her home at about 10 p.m.

The teacher said she called her husband in the Philippines and told him what happened.

Her husband said she should return to the Philippines and back to her old teaching job. But she said she wanted to get justice before she leaves. “Before I go home I want him to be put in jail,” she said.

On the other hand, she said the man had posted photos of her online.

The Arab News report quoted Filipinos who claim to know the suspect as saying he also posted nude pictures of a previous rape victim on the Internet two years ago.

“As a result, the teacher had to go home. It also caused the alleged separation between her and her husband,” a Filipino who requested anonymity said as quoted in the report.—JMA/JV, GMANews.TV
