A total of 24,743 Filipino registrants were recorded during the seven-month period of the overseas absentee voting registration in Hong Kong.

According to the Philippine Consulate General, many Filipinos went to Admiralty and OAV satellite registration sites located at the Worldwide Plaza in Central just to beat the August 31 deadline.

The Consulate even opened new OAV data capture facilities in Worldwide Plaza to accommodate more Pinoys.

Likewise, a data capturing machine (DCM) was also set up in the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) to augment the existing facilities in Banco de Oro (BDO), Philippine National Bank (PNB) and Metrobank (MB).

Those who checked if their registrations were still active visited the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), UAE Exchange and Prime Credit.

The free space offered by these companies in Worldwide Plaza made the OAV registration accessible to the Filipino community in Hong Kong who congregate in this location during their free days.

Meanwhile, Filipino organizations in Hong Kong played a vital role in encouraging OFWs to register for the upcoming elections in the Philippines.

The Consulate recognized the valuable contributions of the organizations and business sector who volunteered to help in the OAV registration exercise.

The organizations that volunteer for the OAV registration were the Damayan OFW HongKong, Leyte-Samar Association, Federation of Eastern Visayan Associations, Sagay Association, Southern Cotabato Overseas Workers Association, Capiz Achievers Association, Ilocos Norte Filipino Alliance of the Philippines, League of Visayan Association, Zamahon, Zamahon, Oriental Mindoro Association, National Organization of Professional Teacher-Hong Kong Chapter, Bulacan Association, United Drivers Association, The Sun Organization, FILCOMSIN, Mission for Migrant Workers and United-Filipinos (UNIFIL)-Migrante.
