The labor and employment chief reiterated that the number of job fairs to be conducted is expected to increase as the months unfold through the year.

She recalled that in 2014, a total of 2,018 job fairs were conducted with at least 761 thousand applicants vying for 4.6 million vacancies being offered by 31,823 registered employers. A total of 134,581 applicants were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) last year.

“The number of job fairs last year is a remarkable effort from all our regional offices. We managed to gain at least 43.07 percent increase from the 1,444 job fairs conducted in 2013. A total of 113,269 jobseekers were hired on the spot. This is out of the 632 thousand jobseekers, who vied for the 3.2 million vacancies being offered by 24,000 employers that year,” Baldoz said.

Secretary Baldoz encouraged job seekers to take advantage of the job opportunities accessible at these job fairs, saying the job fairs are open to all who are looking for decent and productive jobs.  “We are mounting these job fairs with our partners to bring employers and job seekers together,” she said.
